KITE FLYING IN BAKAU STREET

As usual every saturday or sunday i would go and jog at a mini park in bakau street opposing the penang bridge, this time it was very windy and cloudy being the rainy season and all, what made my day was seeing people taking this advantage to play with kites, but in malaysia people have their own way of kite flying, KITE BATTLES. and the people playing the kites were all grown man off all races, mostly uncles just having a jolly good time, but to explain why its a battle is that their not just holding a string a just waving their kites, they would battle other kites to try and get a takedown, how they do it is by rubbing their strings on the opponents string and create some sort of friction to it i suppose until it gets cut. As you can see i uploaded three different photos, two fields and a river, its because in one field they would be playing the kites and across the river people of all races young and old would be waiting for the kite to come flying to them, and thats where the real battle begins, people would be running knocking the younger kids down jumping up high to get the kite first, and once they get the kite they would go home and tie up a new string and fly the next day all over again, its fun seeing the young and old running laughing and falling down by not seeing the ground while their looking up in the air at the kites. but before i witness people playing in the city not looking at traffic and riding their bikes fast and not looking at the road properly and jumping into other people property just to get the kite, seeing people playing in this sort or area is a relief for me and i give credit to the penang municipal council for coming up with a place like this in a packed town, this small park is also new and theres still development going on such as apartments and shops, soon i would think this place would be packed with people young and old having a good time being in a safe atmosphere, only one bad thing about it though is the the motocyclist riding on the supposedly only bicycle and running track, it leaves tire marks on the ground and is dangerous for the people walking and cycling on the walkaway, hope the council would disallow it by giving more harsh punishments and preventing it by building more trees and blocks to prevent bikes in the walkaway. Heres some photos of malaysian kites. :D
